This country that supposed to be the best country in the world is not really all that great for most of us. There are only a few who can say this country is great and the reason they can say this is because it’s great to them, for them and about them. When you get all the benefits of this so-called great country then yes, it is the great country tis I thee, but when you’re the othered people it’s not so great to you. There are many examples of this and one in particular is the Crystal Mason case.
Crystal Mason spent 4 years in prison for tax fraud. She did people’s taxes and she inflated the returns for her clients. She pleaded guilty in 2011 and was sentenced in 2012 and completed her sentence in 2016 and decided to vote. The Irony of this is that we have a man who wants to be president who did similar acts and more and yet he’s free. I digress. Crystal just wanted to vote she was never told that she couldn’t vote, at any rate after years of back and fourth court proceedings and threats to her freedom the court reversed her conviction only for the Tarrant county District attorney Phil Sorrells to try and get her charges reinstated even though her vote was never counted and she was granted a full acquittal by the court of appeals.
