The Late great comedian Paul Mooney did a skit about black people being extinct. It goes like this.
“A white man and his son are walking in a museum and the kid says, “what’s that dad” and the father says, “oh that’s a black man he no longer exists”.
It was very funny but unfortunately, it’s becoming an unmitigated fact.
Everyday we turn on the tv or hear on the radio some form of cancelling out our existence. Whether it’s whitewashing the history of slavery, Jim crow and the civil rights, or banning our books, taking away our rights in voting, and the list goes on and on. Yes, I know this is the cancel culture but sometimes we cancel people before we get all the facts. Most of the time it’s because of fear, jealousy, and misinformation.
Dreadlocks are a symbol of pride, identity, and heritage and sometimes even our religious beliefs.
For N.F.L. players it is all of that and some.Player’s risk getting tackled and pulled down by their hair and yet they still wear them. Why? Because it represents who they are. Dreads began in Africa, but it was Bob Marley who made them popular.

Darryl George, an 18-year-old junior in Barbers Hill high school in Texas has been suspended since August of 2023. Why? Did he shoot somebody? NO. Did he beat somebody up? NO. Did he cheat on his test? NO. He got his hair braided.
We call his style of hair, locs or formerly known as dreadlocks.
But wait didn’t Texas pass The Crown Act. So that no one would be discriminated against based on their style of hair. Well, somebody forgot to tell the school, the superintendent, and the judge because they agreed with the suspension.
Well, what is the law? Let’s take a look at it.
The Crown Act: Sec.25.902 Enacted by the legislature of the state of Texas.
Prohibition on certain discrimination in student dress or grooming policy (a) In this section protective hairstyle includes braids, locks, and twists.
(b) any student dress or grooming policy adopted by a school district, including student dress or grooming policy for any extracurricular activities, may not discriminate against a hair texture or protective hairstyle commonly or historically associated with race.
Now let’s take a look at:Barbers Hill ISD Dress and Grooming Code
Male students ‘hair will not extend, at any time, below the eyebrows or below the ear lobes. Male students’ hair must not extend below the top of a t-shirt collar or be gathered or worn in a style that would allow the hair to extend below the top of a t-shirt collar below the eyebrows, or below the ear lobes when let down.

When I look at this picture, his hair is not over his ears, or at the top of his t-shirt, It’s not even below his eyebrows, matter of fact it is in an updo as we call it and I might add neatly done, and well-manicured.
So, what’s the problem. NOTHING! He just showing his pride in who he is as a black man and that has always been a problem for racist white republicans, might I add that the judge is republican.
Racist white people have a problem with black people being black. They stole us, took our identity away from us, changed our name to theirs, made us assimilate to be like them, think like them, dress like them, talk like them, even want to be like them and they did it with the law.
Here comes the Judge
The honorable Chap B Cain lll State District Court Chambers and Liberty of Texas.
He said the school was right in suspending Darryl George.
First, I have got to tell you something about me and that is, I am an overthinker, conspiracy theorist, a jacked-up person with issues. Now with that being said you now have the context of this content.
I know most of yall think Sharon has really gone off the deep end, but wait hear me out, I’m going somewhere with this.
BLACK PEOPLE take a look at the world around you, and what do you see?
I see black people just trying to live black.
I also see an intelligent young black man being ostracized for wearing his braids, so distinguished that they couldn’t find anything wrong, so they made up some shit about the length, and it still doesn’t make sense because he has it wrapped up, and the crazy thing is, that it is in Texas where they created the crown act law, but white racist republicans don’t follow no law even the ones they set. Next, they gone have us cut all our hair off then say that’s against the law. No matter what we do they will never let us be who we are. So we aint asking NO MO. We are going to be unapologetically black. Blacker than black, Blackity black black.
It’s black history month. As James brown said, SAY IT LOUD I’M BLACK AND I’M PROUD!
The reason I say we are becoming extinct is because they have made us assimilate so much until our own people look at us and even I said a while ago. “Why can’t they just comb their hair or get a nice haircut, but what I didn’t realize was that’s what freedom is all about.
Freedom to be the authentic me.
Our culture, our style, our swag they want to destroy, but they copy everything that we do, say, wear, walk, talk. They love EVERYTHING about us but HATE US!!!
Our very essence is being demolished. The way we talk, the way we dress, the roles we play in our community are all under attack. You don’t think so, they have a comprehensive plan to get rid of us for good. They are shooting at full capacity everything they can to make sure that we no longer exist or have power to make a difference and it didn’t just start. It started a long time ago.
We lived in Africa and the West indies fully independent, capable, in one of the richest countries in the world, until They TRAFFICKED us to America where we were not allowed to have our own names.
IS THIS THE NEW WORLD ORDER!
NO HISTORY! NO NAME! NOBODY!
But he can wear his hair the way he wants and it’s alright.
Meet the Black Lawyer Who Refused to Cut His Locks to Make His Colleagues Feel Better
Marcus Shute Jr., a 34-year-old lawyer from Nashville, raised a few eyebrows when he decided to grow his locks in 2002. But he still refuses to cut his hair in hopes of making a point that his personal appearance should not affect his professional career! In fact, Shute is a well sought-after lawyer, and he runs his own law firm in Nashville, Tennessee.
