Anybody who really knows me knows that I am a lover of basketball. March madness is my favorite time of the year, because in my opinion aint nothing like college basketball.
When I was younger, I would go watch basketball anywhere at any time, even if it was just alley ball. There was a place called Marillac house and those of us who were not trying to get in trouble hung out there at the basketball court that the nuns ran. We hung out with Isaiah Thomas, Skip Dillard, and Mark Aquirre. Once I caught a bus all the way to the southside of Chicago just to watch basketball. That old adage God watches over fools is so true, because I didn’t know that the buses stopped at a certain time, but luckily for me ballers are some of the nicest dudes most of the time, and they have a lot of respect for women. This guy saw that I was waiting for a bus that was not coming and he offered me a ride. I vowed never to go anywhere anymore without checking to see if there was transportation. I didn’t make that mistake any more.
I have loved college basketball since the fabulous five. Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Ray Jackson, and Jimmy King.
They call it March Madness, because it happens in March, and it is sponsored by The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
When Michael Jordan was on North Carolina and Patrick Ewing on Georgetown with coach John Thompson.
I started loving basketball even earlier than that. When we were kids a couple of the Chicago bulls would come to the, then called the Boys club. I met Norm Van Lier and Bob Love and they played with the boys, and I thought wow this is great, and I have loved it ever since.
Although the NBA is not the NCAA, I still enjoy it, just not as much as I do the NCAA, unless it’s the playoffs. It seems then they play like the college boys with all their heart.
This year there were so many people disappointed in basketball because their favorite teams that they thought would
sho nuff be in the playoffs for March Madness got knocked out almost immediately. So, as they said, their brackets were already messed up. Well, it seems that is the same for the NBA playoffs this year.
The NBA playoffs are after the regular season is over. The National Basketball Association (NBA) has a tournament, the best of 7 elimination games.
The teams everybody thought would be in it like the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Warriors have already been sent home because the fat lady started singing.
So now we got some fresh, different, under dogs in the playoffs, this could get interesting.
Boston Celtics knocked the 76’ers out. I used to love the 76’ers because of my man Dr J. His style of play is where Michael Jordan got his style from.
The Golden state Warriors got knocked out by the Lakers. Steph can’t do it all and especially when the other team got Lebron.
Miami knocked out the New York Knicks, Patrick Ewings old team. From what it seems they needed him even the old him, would have been better than what they had even though they lost by only 2 points.
The Denver Nuggets knocked out the Phoenix Suns. I guess the sun was in their eyes and they couldn’t see.
At any rate, I will be watching from a TV screen nearby to see who will win the championship game, how many showtime dunks are there going to be, and will Jayson Tatum beat his record of 51 points in a playoff game, or will history be made with the youngest coach.
Will Boston and Mark Wahlberg beat the Heat? Will the Denver Nuggets take the Lakers to the mile high club?
Who gone win the championship? Will it be Denver, Lakers, Celtics, or Miami that’s gone turn up the heat? I don’t know but I can’t wait to see it.
I guess it’s possible it could be ALL OF THE ABOVE. I guess I got to wait, watch, and see.
WHO GONE BE THE KING
