Mary J Blige coined this phrase in her song on her second album in 1995. I just want to be happy. Years before that in1988 Bobby McFerrin wrote a song called Be Happy and years later in 2013 Pharell wrote a song called Happy.
So, as you can see there is a pattern here. Black people have always tried to be happy despite the circumstances and all the challenges that we face, we have learned that the key to making it in this country is that we got to be happy I didn’t say that we don’t get sad or mad we just decided we not gon let them take our joy away.
Proverbs 17:22 says; laughter is good for the soul like good medicine. Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of the Lord is our strength. But lately we haven’t had that much to laugh about considering what we all have been going through in this yet to be called united states of America. Except for the temporary moments of joy like the Alabama brawl and Jasmine Crockett clap back to mtg bleach blond bad built butch body there have been far and few between especially in this political arena.
I know most of us are sick and tired of being sick and tired of all these political ads on tv. Each one says that he is this and she is that and they aint this and they aint that.
I know we sick and tired of all the flyers coming to our house claiming this and claiming that.
I know we sick of all the pop ups about the politicians doing this and doing that.
I know we sick of different people and different celebrities saying this and saying that, but here’s what we
CAN’T do and that’s get sick and tired of doing the right thing, making sure that righteousness is at the top of the ticket, freedom is for everybody and peace and prosperity is for all people in this yet to be called United States and the only way to do that is to vote for the person who will give us that and the choice is clear, it’s KAMALA.
James 5:16 says, the righteous man availeth much. So we got to be righteous, pray and fight for what is right. Isaiah 59:19 says the enemy comes in like a flood to discourage us and take away any form of positivity that we have, but we got to stand on business and God will fight our battles.
They trying to overwhelm us with a barrage of ads commercials and flyers to make us give up on the voting process and we can’t do that because too much is at stake, so we keep on pushin like the impressions said in their 1964 album, we can’t stop now we too close to becoming the country that most of us want to live in and the only one that doesn’t want that is the WHITE RACIST.
There are four things that the white racist absolutely don’t want to see and that is unity, love for each other, and knowledge of the power we have as a collective and positively no laughing.
You say I understand the first three, but I don’t understand the laughing one.
Yall see how they were offended by Kamala laughing and even made a commercial about her laughing because the WHITE RACIST sees that as laughing at them, about them and rubbing her popularity in their faces and they can’t take it.
Did yall see on Tik Tok there was two boats one filled with white people and one filled with black people and the boat with the black people everybody was laughing, singing, and dancing and the boat with the white people they were just sitting and mean mugging the black people just for having fun and joy and lo key some of the white people were looking and saying I’m on the wrong boat.
Humor has always been a key weapon that Desmond Tutu used to stand against racism.
The young teen walking in his neighborhood after the hurricane to try to get phone service was confronted by 4 big white men who asked him do, he live in the community in other words where your papers at. Even though he was scared he was laughing and that probably kept him alive.
Laughing when the enemy thinks he got you confuses him because he don’t understand it but as black people we had to still have joy when they drug our husbands, fathers and sons out of the house and hung them.
We still had to have joy when the police pulled us over for no reason only to humiliate us as they did Tyreek Hill.
We still had to have joy when they wouldn’t loan us the money for our business, or wouldn’t rent to us, or wouldn’t give us the job or when they locked up our family members without evidence only to realize years later they were innocent even if the then Former president took out a full page ad saying that they should be executed even though they were innocent.
So I have come to the conclusion that WHITE RACIST people hate to see us happy because it don’t take much for us to be happy whereas them it tales a whole lot and they still don’t be happy and suicidal, while we barely scraping by and yet we still have our joy.
The best example was when the hurricane hit Georgia and there was no power, no lights, nothing, but we as black people pulled the grill out cooked our food, played our music, and made a way out of no way while the white people were crying crocodile tears over what they lost. Don’t get me wrong, we get sad too we just choose not to dwell on it and we try to make the best out of a bad situation besides we don’t have much that we own, so whatever we lost wasn’t all that important to us as long as we got life and our family members made it. They hate that we are RESILIENT no matter what.
It’s all about perspective. And this is why WHITE RACIST people hate to see us living, loving, happy, laughing, having fun, enjoying life full of hope promise and joy because THEY NOT LIKE US!!!
So here is a page full of black people LAUGHING! LIVING! AND LOVING!
However, this is the world I GOT to live in.
This is what we want everybody around the world to say about us.
Psalm 126:2 We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, ‘What amazing things the Lord has done for them.’”
