In 1870 the 15th amendment said that they had to let black men vote, but the racist white southerners decided they didn’t like that, so they came up with some ideas to stop black men from voting, like paying to vote which they called poll taxes, reading(literacy) tests, grandfathers’ clauses, and knowing how many jelly beans are in a jar were all intimidation tactics to frustrate the voter and stop black men from voting.
Literacy test
That was the good old days, well they are doing the same thing now just in a different way. In Georgia they have limited voting places, limited drop boxes, closing the polling place early, absentee votes must be brought in by the person voting, even if they are elderly and sick, they must have the same signature on the envelope as they do on their ID, the ID picture must look the same as in-person. Good luck with that because we all look different on our ID than in-person, especially if the ID is older, oh and yeah you can’t give water, snacks, or a chair to anybody while they wait in the 10-hour line, or you may end up going to jail or not being able to vote. They move the polling place, so you don’t know where it is and have you going around to different polling places only for them to tell you that you’re in the wrong place and then going to that place and they tell you that you were in the right place. At least that was my experience here in Green Bay Wisconsin.
Ex-felons who want to vote and can if they’re not on paper like parole, house arrest, probation, or extended supervision are being intimidated by police threatening to take them back to jail. That’s the same thing they did back then. All of this is to frustrate the voter so he or she will give up and not vote and this is the only way they win.
IF WE DON’T VOTE
In Atlanta, they tried to pass a senate bill called the SB 202 called line warming, making it against the law to give water to people standing in line, in the hot ass sun, but it didn’t pass.
Can we say voter suppression Jim Crow 2.0
They passed the voting act in 1870, didn’t matter. They passed the voting act in 1965 didn’t matter. It’s 2023 when will the voting act pass and really mean something.
CAN THIS BE WHAT THEY CALL MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
