Look at how far we have come. You ever notice that if you’re going somewhere new it seems like it takes forever, but coming back it seems quicker, that’s because we were so busy looking at how far we have to go; instead of how far we have come. Let’s see how far we have come.
A couple of years ago during black history month, I went to Barnes and Noble to find some black history books and NOT to my surprise there was one shelf for African American books, but this year there is literally an Isle filled with black history books.
The same was for Walmart’s and Target. Not only did Target not have any black books they had no black people working there, and now they have a wide variety of black books, and cds, and have started partnering with black entrepreneurs to sell their products in their store, hell even Sam’s club has black books now.
We have momentum, power, and some of the most highly intelligent people helping us along the way. We have more black millionaires, and billionaires. We have positions in politics, media, and government, all we have to do is WORK WITH THEM. Let’s galvanize and start teaching civics, policies, and positions, in our churches, in our groups, at home and in our schools, so we can be ready in 2023. Let’s teach basic politics like school house rock and show them how each elected official is connected to them and how they affect their daily lives. We don’t need to show our degrees and confuse them. I’m looking for the Divine Nine, Black Voters Matter and all the other civic organizations to start teaching why, what, and how come it’s VERY important for them to vote.
Every commercial is using our black music, playing hip hop all over the world, and using black artists for the half time show. There are more black people who own their own homes, have their own businesses, and are sitting at the table, making decisions that’s valuable for black and brown people.
We have Ketanji Brown Jackson, Raphael Warnock, and Roland Martin’s Black Star Network; just to name a few; so we got help now; so let’s take advantage of it and be about our fathers business and change this world one vote at a time.
“The vote is the key to worldwide change”Freddie Gray.
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any” Alice Walker.
“Do not be silent there is no limit to the power that may be released through you” Howard Thurman.
“History is not made by individuals it’s made by the masses of our people”Stokely Carmichael and Kwame toure.
“Every generation leaves behind a legacy. What that legacy will be is determined by the people of that generation. What legacy do you want to leave behind?” Congressman John Lew
Jimmie Lee Jackson was murdered just trying to register to vote. We have the power to stand up for him and vote. Fight for democracy. There is an attack on voting. Did he die for NOTHING?
WE MUST VOTE IF WE CARE ABOUT OUR KIDS, GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.
WHAT WILL YOUR LEGACY BE?
